The enrollment process is easy:
• Call us at (512) 617-0000 or (866) 972-8877. • Tell us your mailing address. • We will send you enrollment forms. • Send your enrollment form along with your tuition deposit. • You will be considered officially enrolled when we receive your enrollment form and your tuition deposit. Next:• We will determine your credits and create a new official transcript. • Credits are assigned according to Washington state rules and Alger Learning Center/Independence high school. • If you already have 19 credits required by the State of Washington, we will give you the option to graduate. • NOTE: Our program requires a fun career exploration and life skills class before graduation. Because this course is all about YOU, it is not boring. • You will take a reading comprehension and math assessment. Do not worry about this part. We know how to keep learning simple. We know that if you take small steps you will get where you are trying to go. State tests are not required. We use assessments that do not change everytime the political wind blows. • We will meet together to determine which courses will best fit your graduation plan. • Meeting may be in person or by phone. If student is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian MUST attend. If over the age of 18, family members and friends may attend for support. • You will decide whether to take one course at a time or several classes at a time. You will decide whether to take courses using computer and Internet technology or paper-based workbooks. Finally: • We create a learning contract for each course. The learning contract will explain:
how material to be learned will be presented, how your learning will be assessed, and when your course will end. Tips • If you are not working a job and plan to be a full-time student, expect to finish courses faster than in traditional schools.
• If you are working a job, plan a place where you can study.
• You may study and receive tutoring up to 4 hours Monday through Saturday in our administrative office. |
